The Reason for Missions

As Jesus prepared to leave the earth to return to His Father in heaven, He gave His final instructions to His disciples. These instructions were:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

– Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)

Other Missions Activities

Missions is all about meeting people’s needs. Our primary need is for a Savior … and helping to meet pressing worldly needs allows us to actively show the love of God to those around us.

Church Missions Activities

FSCC strives to reach out to the community. We have several ministries in place to fulfill local needs and help families on a day to day basis. Below is a listing of some of those ministries.

Food Pantry

The food pantry provides a supplementary source of food for the needy in our community throughout the year.  The food pantry is located at the Family Life Center and is open on the  3rd Thursday of each month from 5:00 – 6:00 PM.

Holiday Baskets

We have so much to be thankful for. A Savior, a Church, and most of us can be thankful that we have plenty of food. The missions committee coordinates Fresh Start’s efforts to help the less fortunate at Thanksgiving and Christmas by giving turkey or ham baskets to those whose holiday dinners may not include an abundance.  Again, our FSCC family came through with generous gifts of food and money. The Women’s, and also the 50+ ministries sponsored events to raise awareness and significant donations.

Missionary Visits

Missionaries visit Fresh Start from time to time. During these visits, they usually speak to a Wednesday evening class or a Sunday connections class. These visits provide a great opportunity to learn about both the challenges and opportunities associated with taking the message of Christ to those who haven’t had the opportunity to hear the Gospel.
